NATIONAL EDUCATION EXPO (NEX 02)
In line with the 8th National Development Plan (8NDP) development outcome 1 which is “Improved Education and Skills Development” under Strategic Development Area Number 2 (Human and Social Development), DNK General Consultancy Limited, a non-profit making consulting firm that focuses on providing Education and Research solutions has come up with an initiative of a National Education Expo (NEX). The Expo seeks to supplement Government efforts in providing education opportunities for all, focusing on Tertiary education, as statistics show that only 7.6% of the Zambian population is in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree as of 2010. The expo will focus on supporting the following strategies as highlighted in the 8th NDP:
(1). Enhance access to quality, equitable and inclusive education
In line with this strategy, DNK aims to facilitate discussions on inclusive educational practices, showcase innovative solutions to improve access to quality education, and encourage collaboration among school administrators for effective implementation.
(2). Improve technical, vocational and entrepreneurial skills
With reference to this strategy, the expo will also facilitate the sharing of presentations on vocational and entrepreneurial skills development, as well as promote partnerships between educational institutions and industries for practical skill enhancement. Here, we will emphasise on taking education outside the traditional space into society.
(3). Increase access to Higher Education
To support this strategy, the Expo will invite institutions of higher education, and highlight opportunities for these institutions. The expo will also facilitate dialogue between universities, students, and policy makers to address challenges, as well as the showcasing of scholarship programs and funding options to increase accessibility
(4). Enhance Science, technology and innovation
The Expo will provide a forum for entrepreneurs in Science and Technology to share insights in this field, and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions on the latest technology that can increase access to education to support this strategy. Under this section, the Expo will also include a session to encourage collaboration between Educators, Researchers, and Industrial Professionals.
